They have taken on the challenge with vigour and style engaging a superb French trained Chef who also dabbles as an artist.
\n\t\t

\n\t\t
\n\t\tDerek Guille and The Ugly Uncles who were such a hit last year have agreed to provide the music again. With such classics as \"Castlemaine Ladies\", \"Take Off Your Clothes\" and \"Midnight in Paris\" this should be a swinging affair!
\n\t\t
\n\t\tOver a dozen of the local wineries will provide tastings of their wines. Eric Bellchambers of Zig Zag Winery said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"This is a great opportunity for people to discover the quality of the fabulous wines produced around the Malmsbury area. Some of these wines such as, those from Birthday Villa and my winery come from 30 year old vines. Others such as Fryerstown Road Vineyard and Rosebery Hill are off 20 year old vines. All the vineyards including the newer ones produce distinctive wines, which have won heaps of medals at wine shows in the last few years.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThis year the music will be outside (weather permitting) so people can sit on the lawns of the beautiful garden of the Mill, so bring a blanket. There will be food to nibble on and wines to sip while entertained by the band. Brian Paterson from Grace Devlin Wines said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"The aim of this event is to give a relaxed and fun atmosphere in which people can savour the fine food and wine of the area. By trying the wines with food, people can discover their grace and complexity. So everybody come along and have fun.\"

\n\t\t\n\t\t\n"; var strContent7 = "Wine makers in the Kyneton area in Central Victoria received a fillip recently when the iconic wine of the area, Virgin Hills received international acclaim in the U.S. for its exceptional quality and character. Many other Shiraz and Cabernet based wines produced around Kyneton are now also beginning to get the recognition that they deserve.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tFor a number of years now these wineries have been the Quiet achievers of the many wine shows around the country. Zig Zag Winery, Coliban Valley, Metcalfe Valley, O’Shea and Murphy, Grace Devlin, Fryerstown Road and Basalt Ridge to name but a few. Even the newcomers such as Barfold Estate which won Gold at the 2003 Ballarat Wine Show are standing up and being noticed.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThese wineries are located in different wine regions but are part of a grouping based on social contact and commonality of styles. The bridge over the Coliban River at Metcalfe (near Kyneton) is the geographic point at which the boundaries of the Heathcote, Macedon Ranges and Bendigo wine regions come together. The vineyards in those border regions are blessed with the most perfect cool climate for winegrowing to be found anywhere in Australia. They are also planted in some of the best volcanic soils to be found anywhere.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tPresident of the Loddon and Campaspe Cabernet and Shiraz Growers Association (LACSACGA) Tom Gyorffy said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"When Tom Lazar chose the Kyneton area in 1968 to produce his dream wine- Virgin Hills, he showed true genius and empathy for the environment. He seemed to recognize that this climate and those soils were ideal for Shiraz and Cabernet.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThere are now about 15 producers of Shiraz and Cabernet in the area. Most of them have banded together to form the \"Coliban Bridge Cabernet and Shiraz Trail\". All of the vineyards on the trail are within 15 minutes of Kyneton.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tTom Gyorffy said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"Some of the vineyards on the trail have vines that are 20 to 30 years old, others are more recently planted. There is, however, a common theme of quality as exemplified by the performances at wine shows. I believe that within 5 years the most sought after Shiraz and Cabernet wines in the country will come from this area.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThe trail will be officially launched at The Mill, on the Calder Highway at Malmsbury, on Sunday 16 November 2003, with a wine food and music extravaganza. All the wineries on the trail will be present along with local food producers and musicians, starting from 11am and partying on until 5pm.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tTom said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"The launch of the trail is an opportunity for people to get to try these sensational wines and have some fun at the same time. I would advise people to put their names on the mailing lists of the wineries to ensure access to their wines in the future. Build a relationship with your favourite vignerons, otherwise, in future vintages, you may not get a look in."; var strContent8 = "The 2002 Coliban Valley Cabernet-Merlot was chosen by Judges at the 2003 Daylesford Wine Show as the winner of the trophy for the best Cabernet in the show. The wine is entirely estate grown and made. It received a great reception when publicly released at the recent Malmsbury Village Fare.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tColiban Valley is the labour of love of Greg and Helen Miles and is located at Metcalfe, near Kyneton, in Central Victoria. Greg tends the vines while Helen tends the wines. In the past couple of years this has been a successful combination winning many wine show medals and developing a formidable reputation for the production of distinctive premium Cabernet based wines.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tGreg said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"Last year our dream to produce a top Cabernet started to come together with some success at wine shows. This year we have built on that and done even better, and we are thrilled at winning this trophy at Daylesford.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThe Miles have a simple philosophy to wine making which was encapsulated by Helen who said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"Greg and I believe that good wines are made from good fruit. Because of this we put a lot of effort into producing the grapes. My job as the winemaker is to make sure I keep all the goodness of those grapes intact in the wine, so it comes out as nature intended.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tColiban Valley is part of the Coliban Bridge Cabernet and Shiraz trail around the Kyneton area. It is open to the public on weekends between 10am and 5pm. Greg and Helen look forward to a visit from lovers of fine Cabernet to discuss the many virtues of that noble grape variety."; var strContent9 = "Tarrangower Estate at Malmsbury, flew the Macedon Ranges flag winning a silver medal at the prestigious le Concours des Vins wine show 2003. The medal winning wine won in the hotly contested 2001 Shiraz class getting the fourth highest award among a group of 69 of Victoria’s top shirazes.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThe wine show held annually at the Hotel Sofitel in Melbourne by The French- Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is judged by a panel of French and Australian Judges . This year the judging panel consisted of Olivier Poels, editor of the influential French wine magazine- La Revue du Vin de France, legendery Rhone Valley shiraz maker- Michel Chapoutier, Executive Chef of the Sofitel – Christian Maier, Dominique Portet, journalist Ralph Kyte-Powell and Nicole Tuckwell.
\n\t\t
\n\t\tTarrangower Estate winemaker Tom Gyorffy said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"When I saw that Marcel Chapoutier was a judge in this show I thought I would enter our shiraz to get an idea whether our style is headed in the right direction. At the show I saw the competition our 2001 was up against, some of the legends of Victorian shiraz and thought we are not going to do too well here! I was stunned when we were awarded the silver medal.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tThe medal winning wine was made entirely from grapes grown on estate. Tom said:
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\"I have always believed that our vineyard at Malmsbury, which is probably the warmest in the Macedon Ranges was ideal for the production of premium Shiraz and Cabernet. That our first commercially released wine should do so well is a great thrill and gives us a boost of confidence for the future.\"
\n\t\t
\n\t\tTarrangower Estate is part of the 'Coliban Bridge' wine trail near Kyneton and is open on weekends between 10am and 5pm. Brochures of the trail can be obtained from Information Centres in the Macedon Ranges and Castlemaine. Proprietors, Tom and Nea Gyorffy invite lovers of shiraz to come to their cellar door and try this food friendly wine."; var strContent10 = "Top local B&B, Kyneton Ridge tasted success at the 2003 Daylesford Wine Show when its estate grown 2002 Pinot Noir won the trophy for best pinot in the show. This builds on other results for this sensational wine, including medals at the Macedon Ranges Wine Exhibition 2003, the 2003 Bathurst National Cool Climate Wine Show and the Southern Victorian Wines show.
\n\t\t
